Baked vegetable chips by Malavika Shenoy

Life is sometimes so unfair. Some of the tastiest and most loved foods in the world that you really want your children to love and enjoy – feature in the Junk Food category. And one such food is chips. And then a chef offers you a recipe that says baked vegetable chips and you wonder – can it be true? Can it really be happening? Will I finally be able to eat and serve chips without feeling guilty?

When you want to indulge your children by serving them chips – but you are consumed by guilt because you are destroying their health with junk food – this is the recipe that can rescue you from your guilt.

Baked Vegetable Chips by Malavika Shenoy

 Ingredients

Ingredients Quantity
Vegetable of choice (potatoes, Carrots, Beetroots, Sweet potato) 2-3 medium
Salt To taste
Pepper To taste
Oil 2 tbsp

 

Method

  1. Cut the vegetables lengthwise like finger chips. Pre-heat oven at 200°
  2. Parboil them in hot water. Let it cool.
  3. Grease a baking tray with oil. Arrange the vegetable in single layer on the baking tray. Sprinkle salt and pepper and shake the tray. So that all the pieces gets seasoned.
  4. Bake for 10 – 12 mins until crisp and golden brown from outside and soft inside.

Notes

Baking time varies based on the size of the cup.

If you want crunchy chips cut them into thinner strips.

Experiment with seasoning. Enjoy cooking!
